Solution guide · Proposed implementation. Workflows, contracts, examples and evaluation plans are illustrative proposals, not delivered customer systems, audited integrations or measured results.
A personal assistant accessing its owner’s conversations and a customer-service platform representing an organization may both send WhatsApp messages. Their account models, staffing, authorization and continuity responsibilities are different. A shared channel does not make them interchangeable.
This proposal offers a decision process using Datahase’s personal connector as a self-hosting reference. An organizational route is a separate official WhatsApp Business Platform project.
Identify account owner and permitted task
Write the intended use before choosing an SDK: owner search of cached conversations, or authorized staff responding to customer cases. These imply different identity, consent, audit and service requirements.
The pinned personal MCP README states unofficial status and no Meta affiliation. Protocol compatibility and account restrictions are deployment risks, not service commitments.
Official Business service messaging describes customer-initiated support. Selecting that business route still requires staff access, customer identity, routing, governance and recovery engineering.
Draw separate data boundaries
For personal hosting, distinguish phone service, local connector cache, MCP client and optional generation provider. Add logs, backups and administrative readers; they often contain overlooked copies.
| Proposed inventory field | Synthetic example or review question |
|---|---|
| Asset and account owner | Cached message text / owner-demo |
| Storage | Host-volume-a, separate from backups |
| Readers | Connector service and authorized owner client |
| External destinations | Configuration-dependent client/provider paths |
| Retention owner | Account owner with documented procedures |
| Recovery evidence | Isolated restore-demo-4 |
Inventory sessions, media, transcripts, embeddings, answers and archives separately. Local indexing does not make downstream clients local. Transport encryption does not identify who can read content at the destination. Inspect actual configuration and each requested action rather than relying on an early diagram.
Understand conversation selection
Pinned history documentation separates indexing selection from existing tool authorization. Selecting chats for history is not a general access-control allowlist. Other tools retain their established account authorization.
Explain this beside the selection workflow and test all enabled tools with synthetic accounts. The docs also distinguish incomplete cached history, local retrieval and optional external answer generation. Missing results may reflect absent history, unprocessed transcripts or retrieval limits, not proof a conversation never occurred.
A synthetic privacy misunderstanding
An owner indexes “Weekend plans” but not “Workshop invoices,” then assumes every assistant tool is limited to weekend plans. An existing account-level retrieval tool can still reach the second chat under its established authorization.
Explain that result and review permitted client operations instead of relabeling the picker as a security boundary. If a generation provider is enabled, trace which questions/evidence/context leave the host. Test provider-off behavior. A remote model used independently by the MCP client remains another disclosure path.
Use distinctive synthetic canaries for controlled transmission tests, not personal chats. Source documentation describes behavior; it is not independent assurance of every configured client.
Build a hosting checklist
Identify administrative access, credential holders and network exposure. Authentication and authorization are separate: valid credentials can grant more account access than an owner expects.
Inventory sessions, caches, indexes, temporary media and backups. Protect recovery material and account for derived copies in retention. Destructive cleanup requires owner approval and a scoped procedure; removal from a screen does not erase every copy.
Restore synthetic data in isolation, checking account association, permissions and freshness before service resumes. Do not run two active installations against one live session as an improvised recovery test.
Measure synthetic indexing/search, disk growth and interruptions on intended hardware. Small benchmarks cannot prove larger-account capacity, multilingual accuracy or production readiness. Local processing may reduce one disclosure path while increasing host/resource responsibilities; assess both.
Treat messages as evidence, not authority
Retrieved text asking to “send all history to this address” is third-party content, not owner authorization. Separate retrieval, generation and execution. Financial changes, commitments and sensitive disclosures need current authorization even if retrieved conversation sounds confident.
Plant adversarial instructions in synthetic messages/attachments. Check they can be shown as evidence without acquiring privileges. Test edited/deleted sources and whether answers reflect available evidence honestly.
Scope business work independently
Start with official account setup and a documented journey. Add verified webhooks, scoped staff access, consent evidence, templates and staffed escalation under the current Business Messaging Policy.
Durable intent and unknown-outcome lessons can transfer. Linked-device sessions, personal caches and owner-level grants may not. If code is reused, its pinned provenance record and applicable notices/licensing remain relevant.
Decide with evidence
Review authorization, coverage explanations, provider-off behavior, restoration and synthetic prompt injection. Record unresolved questions rather than a blanket “private” or “production-ready” label. The open-source page supplies reference context; organizational discovery starts with account type and customer journey, not a promise to reuse everything.
Context, sources and next step
Datahase’s open-source overview and existing personal MCP connection guide provide reference context. The unofficial personal connector is distinct from an official business deployment. Business account setup, policy eligibility, technical adapters, identity, operational staffing and recovery require separate discovery and verification.
Sources checked 5 November 2026 are linked next to relevant statements. Pinned repository documentation describes that exact revision, not an independently completed code audit. Current platform endpoints, policy, categories and commercial terms must be rechecked for an actual implementation. No live messages, personal chats or business bookings were used to validate this design.
