Solution guide · Proposed implementation. All workflows, contracts, scenarios and evaluation plans below are illustrative proposals, not delivered customer systems or measured results.
A CV screening tool becomes difficult to challenge when its most visible output is a number. A reviewer may see apparent precision without knowing whether text describes paid work, training or ambition. The design question is how to make each job-related assertion inspectable and correctable before reliance.
This proposal gives recruiters evidence packets rather than machine-made selection decisions. Every application remains available for substantive human review. Missing text means evidence was not found in the document, not that the person lacks capability. No threshold removes an applicant or sends a rejection. Reviewers must be able to change interpretations, ask questions and record independent, reasoned next steps.
RankZe’s product page describes CV extraction and configurable criteria, not proof that the proposed review controls exist.
Freeze criteria before reading applications
A role owner and recruiter agree what the work involves, what is expected on entry and what will be taught. Replace vague cultural-fit or polish labels with specific justified work requirements. Do not infer personality, protected characteristics or sensitive traits from documents.
Version the criteria and identify that version in each packet. Changing a role opens an explicit review of affected packets; do not silently recompute a leaderboard as though old and new results were equivalent. Retain requirements and revision reasons for responsible reviewers.
Define an evidence contract
| Proposed field group | Distinction to preserve |
|---|---|
| Application and document revision | Authorized record and exact original file |
| Criterion and criteria version | Work requirement being considered |
| Candidate statement, page and span | What the applicant stated and where to inspect it |
| Extraction status | Found, ambiguous, not found or unreadable |
| Reviewer interpretation and clarification | Human correction and unresolved questions |
| Decision owner | Person accountable for the next step |
Parser confidence belongs to extraction diagnostics, not confidence that a person can perform a job. Finding a certificate title does not verify the certificate. Preserve these distinctions in labels, exports and payloads rather than relying on a disclaimer.
Build a sequence that allows disagreement
After file-security checks, create a draft packet with stable source links. Show the original passage beside the proposed statement. A correction changes the interpretation, not the source file; retain proposal and correction history. Unreliable source associations require manual inspection rather than established-evidence styling.
Support request clarification, inspect another passage, correct a label and defer interpretation—not just accept/reject. Applicant communications remain within the organization’s approved process with an owner. Never turn unresolved extraction warnings into applicant outcomes.
Ordering itself can shape attention. Provide neutral navigation and a complete application register. Monitor whether all applications receive intended review, including those outside early ranked screens. Staff need time and authority to disagree; rushed sign-off is not substantive oversight. Rich source views add review effort, but hiding uncertainty to shorten the queue defeats their purpose.
A synthetic failure: the date belongs to the next column
A fictional two-column CV puts a short database course beside a multiyear operations role. Extraction joins course title and employment dates, implying years of database work.
The packet exposes the page and both fragments. A reviewer changes the statement to coursework, marks the employment association unsupported and asks a role-relevant clarification if appropriate. Preserve the fixture for regression. Neither the error nor its correction establishes proficiency or decides the application.
Engineering beyond a parser
Stable document versions and reliable rendering support evidence links. Criteria history needs revision control. Idempotent application imports must not duplicate packets. Map ATS states explicitly and separate extraction permissions from decision-making permissions. Verify supported API operations before promising an adapter.
Apply the same access policy to originals, snippets, summaries, logs and exports. Debugging must not create an uncontrolled second CV archive. Specify retention and correction propagation through indexes/backups under authorized organizational procedures. Provide an accessible alternative correction channel rather than requiring every applicant to use one portal.
Evaluate extraction and oversight separately
Start with synthetic columns, scans, broken text, unusual headings and deployment-supported languages. Personal-record evaluation later requires authorization, governance and a suitable lawful basis. Trained reviewers independently label source statements and errors before resolving disagreement.
Measure omissions, unsupported additions and wrong source associations by document type. Separately observe whether staff can find originals, correct statements, revisit criteria and reach applications beyond the first screen. Look for anchoring; speed alone does not establish substantive review.

Scope a first implementation
Deliver one evidence schema, correction-capable screen, complete register and manual fallback. Pause expansion when links fail or reviewers cannot challenge outputs. Extraction tests cannot prove fair hiring. Bring role criteria, synthetic documents and clear decision ownership to discovery rather than asking for a more prominent score.
Product context, sources and implementation discussion
The RankZe product baseline documents CV parsing, configurable criteria, batch processing and candidate search. The source-linked workspaces, correction routes, access boundaries and specialist review proposed here require additional engineering. They are not established RankZe controls, independent skills verification, fairness assurance or sector deployment. Public documentation is not authenticated product testing.
